But WHY!?
HollaBack is first and foremost for raising awareness about street harassment and building a community and sense of solidarity among its targets. We get tons of emails from people expressing that reading other individuals' stories of harassment makes them feel less alone and helpless in their own personal experiences. The use of pictures is a tool in the fight against street harassment. They are symbolic in that they show the wide range of harassers and represent an act of holla'ing back.
